KIA 10 SPEED
I found this Kia Midnight 10 speed at a Salvation Army store in 1996. It had a heavy layer of dust on it but everywhere I rubbed away the dust, it looked to be in excellent condition. I was amused to see a graphic on the right chain stay proclaiming that it had a "LUGED FRAME".
The first thing I did was to give it a good cleaning and full service of all the moving parts. This revealed not only that it was in excellent condition throughout, but also that it is very striking in black with red and silver graphics, chrome fork ends, rims and bars. I replaced some of the original components to improve the quality of the bike and to make it more compatible with my riding preferences. I installed upright bars, grips, brake levers, pads and cables, bar mounted thumb shifters, a new derailer cable, seat with built-in back lights, tires, tubes, a side stand, a chain, and a parcel rack.
I rode the bike extensively in 1996 and 7, and found it to be a very good riding bike in spite of being a little heavy. All of the components are steel which accounts for the weight.
The only thing I don't like about my Kia is that the wheel rims have a pattern on the braking surfaces which makes a sound when the brakes are applied.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my beautiful Kia and I welcome your comments.
