FUJI TOURING SERIES III

This Fuji touring bike was given to me by a neighbor. It is complete, except for the seat, and in good mechanical condition except for the front wheel which looks like a potato chip. I have not decided what I will do with it yet but am inclined to clean it up and wait until some plan surfaces in my mind(see note below). I did replace the bent wheel and found that the bike rode very well. It is a quality bike with all alloy components and light steel frame (but not of valite tubing as is my Fuji Allegro). In keeping with the lightness of the bike, the fenders are made of very thin but durable plastic. An interesting feature is the use of cantilever brakes to handle the added weight of travel bags.

Note; After reading an article on touring bike design by Bruce Gordon, I have decided to restore this bike in its original form with perhaps one exception. I may not be able to locate a replacement Wolber rim for the front wheel. If not I will try to find a wheel of the same dimensions.

I hope you enjoyed looking at this bike and I welcome your comments.
