SCHWINN PREMIS

Another good find in Florida,(April 01). I check the shops in Bradenton several times each winter to see if there are any goodies for sale. While perusing the road bikes at my favorite shop, I spied a Schwinn Premis on the high rack. At first glance I thought it was a new bike. I asked the shop owner if he would take the bike down so I could look at it up close. On close examination it was obvious that the bike was not a new model since the shifters are on the downtube, the mold flash was worn off of the tires, and there were several other indicators, however,it was in exceptional condition. The previous owner had decided that the bike was too tall for him,(22 inches is tall?) and because of that he rode it very little. The bike had been in storage for a few years when he traded it in on a new TREK. After a short negotiation I paid the man and loaded it in my van. When I got home I rode it for several miles and found it to be very stable and solid feeling, even better than the CENTURION IRON MAN that can be seen in the various makes list. I compare it to the CENTURION because I discovered not long ago, when I compared them closely, that the frames were identical except the Schwinn is 1 inch taller.
