RALEIGH GRAND PRIX

I found this bike for sale in a bazaar at a golf resort in Florida in the winter of 1997. I bought two other bikes that day; a ladies Dunelt single speed and a ladies Raleigh Sports 3 speed. A good day! The Grand Prix is in excellent condition but a little frayed around the edges. There is no rust to speak of but the brown paint is dull and faded. The frame lugs are unusually ornate for a bike of this type. The bike is well equipped with a computer, pedal clip-ons, and a flic stand. For those who don't know what a flic stand is, it is a small device high on the downtube just under the down tube shifters that can be rotated down to keep the bars and wheel from turning. This allows the bike to be leaned against a building etc. without falling over. I was surprised to find a dealer decal showing that the bike was sold in Ithaca, NY only 50 miles from my home.

The best thing I can say about the Grand Prix is that everything worked as it should and it gives a good ride. I haven't touched a thing on it. As proof of its mechanical condition, a few days after buying it I took it on a fast 5 mile ride and had no problems at all. Just a good used bike for very little money. I don't have any plans to do anything to it but ride it occasionally.

I hope you enjoyed looking at this bike and I welcome your comments.
